Computer server system test environment
Hewlett-Packard Company (HP) - http://www.hp.comWhen HP needed a supplier to build, test, and deliver over 1500, custom, 1-U, 19” rack mountable test controller boxes to HP’s contract manufacturers worldwide, they turned to Ball Systems.
Ball Systems came alongside HP to deliver its custom systems-test control box to as many as 15 contract and in-house manufacturing sites worldwide. HP engineers had designed a first pass of the new control box, but did not want to be burdened with managing the assembly and distribution of the boxes to manufacturing sites around the globe. HP turned to Ball Systems to build the boxes on their behalf, and deliver them to the CM's on a turnkey basis. As a result, after some intial information and specification sharing, HP no longer had to be involved in the production and distribution process, nor did they have to provide ongoing support for the test boxes.
Ball Systems was successful at managing multiple requests and orders from manufacturing sites across the globe, and managed orders from as little as 3-pieces to over 300-pieces at a time. Shipments were seamlessly managed to such diverse locations as Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Germany, China, Taiwan, India, Mexico, and Texas. Ball Systems managed all interactions with the manufacturing sites, and without exception delivered the units in the timeframes promised.
